DP World Tour Wins Court Battle Against LIV

The DP World Tour has “won its legal battle” against LIV Golf and now will be able to impose sanctions of nearly US$125,000 to players who “participate in conflicting events without a release.” The ruling means that the likes of LIV players and longtime DP World Tour members Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood are “now likely to rescind their memberships” to avoid the threat of future sanctions and suspensions. Each LIV player “will be fined” the nearly $125,000 amount for playin in the first LIV event last June in London (LONDON TIMES, 4/4).

Some LIV players had been competing in DP World Tour events while the court case was ongoing to gain Official World Golf Ranking points in an effort to qualify for major championships (SBJ).
